The trees were not in full leaf yet. Valle Crucis is noted for the Mast General Store. The original is there and we visited it.
It is so much fun to be in a real general store.
We explored Boone one day and found a Thai restaurant that was excellent. It is the only Thai food we have found that we liked since returning from Thailand. We even got to practice our limited spoken Thai.
The accommodations were not too nice but we made do. We walked each day and the walks were longer than last week. We are addicted to Farm Town and are really having fun building our farm, plowing our fields and planting our crops. We are sort of selfish as we usually harvest each other’s crops in order to earn more coins. It is very interesting to see the individuality of each farm.
We went to Grandfather Mountain one day ( called such because it looks like the profile of an old man).
There is a swinging bridge that is a mile high.
but Bob opted to stay on one side.
It was very windy and cold so we had to get our heavy jackets out and put on our gloves.
They had a very interesting museum with information about the area and also a few animals in “natural” habitat. We saw bear, an eagle and otters.
Our second week was in Westminster, South Carolina. We were almost into Georgia. The resort was in the trees and very nice. There was a longer walk yet to the clubhouse in order to connect to the internet so I continued to increase my walking. We attended a church service at the resort on Sunday morning. We went to the World of Energy by Duke Power at the Oconee Nuclear site. It was very interesting and informative and we learned a lot about the production of electricity. There was a quarter mile nature trail that we walked on which was my first time walking on a trail since surgery. Bob took a picture to capture the proof.
We left South Carolina on Friday and spent the night in Chattanooga, Tennessee and then continued to Nashville on Saturday. We spent time on Saturday and Sunday with Deb and worshipped at her church. Today we are going to a park with her Sunday school class for a picnic and games.
We leave for England and Wales on Wednesday and will be there for about 5 weeks. We are looking forward to the trip. I am probably at 60% stamina so we will be a little limited but will do all that I am comfortable doing.
