We had been there in 1980 I think. They have done a lot of work and there is a very nice visitor center. They also have a very nice cactus garden.
We crossed the Pecos River and stopped at the overlook to take pictures. It was very beautiful.
It also was neat to see where it flows into the Rio Grande.
Bob took a picture for a group of bikers from Austria that is traveling from Orlando, Florida to LA. We crossed the Amistad Reservoir and stopped to get our national park passport stamped. We watched an excellent film of the history of the park and the co-operation between the two border cities. We spent the night in Del Rio.
Sunday we drove to San Antonio and checked in to the Wyndham timeshare. We did some grocery shopping, unpacked, did laundry and rested. Monday we walked to the old cathedral
and the Spanish Governor’s house. It wasn't open though. We then walked the entire loop of the river walk.
Tuesday we drove to 4 of the missions and the national park visitor center.
We met Eric and Martha at a Thai restaurant and the food was awesome. It was wonderful to spend a little time with family.
Wednesday we went to the SAS main store and I got a new pair of tennis shoes.
Thursday was Susan’s birthday and we arrived at Phil & Susan’s in the late afternoon. We did stop at the mall and shopped at Bath and Body and the VF Factory Outlet. We ate our salads for lunch at IKEA after doing some shopping there. We ate dinner at a good Japanese restaurant and had cake and strawberries afterwards at the house.
Friday we went to the Texas Ranger Museum. There were many nice displays and the information was very interesting and informative.
We spent the weekend visiting and playing some games. We enjoyed playing with the dogs too.
Phil & James played some golf while Bob drove the cart.
Tuesday and Wednesday we drove to Indiana. We listened to two book cd’s as we traveled. It is great to be home. We unloaded, unpacked and slept in our own bed.
