Pompano Beach and Orlando (again) 2010

After flying back from the Bahamas we spent our next week at Wyndham PalmAire which is in Pompano Beach. Deb spent one night with us before she flew home. And it started to turn much colder. We did some shopping and bought new suitcases. Our others were 15 years old and had been all over the world and were starting to fall apart.

We then headed north to Orlando again. The first night we ate dinner with Dan and Vicki Alley. They were going to be helping at the Disney marathon. It continued to get colder and even got down to freezing a couple of nights. We got to eat a lunch with the Crews family except for Bill. He was coaching at the marathon.

It is so much fun for us to see folks as we travel even if only for a short time.
We were able to get a confirmed week in the Disney timeshares at Fort Wilderness Lodge so we checked in there on Sunday the 10th.





It was fun.

The hardest part was the car was a long, long way from our room and carrying groceries was tough. We liked our room which of course was decorated very rustic.

We were greeted with towels shaped like Mickey on the bed.

After a couple of days it warmed up a bit and we headed to the park. We spent one day at Animal Kingdom.





The safari ride allowed us to see many of the animals.





We also enjoyed some of the shows especially the Lion King show which is one of our favorites.



We rode the ferry,

the buses and the monorail.

We finished seeing the rest of Epcot that we hadn’t done in November. We watched the fireworks again and went to the American Adventure. Of course we spent time in Magic Kingdom.

and Coleen rode the carousel.

We rode Splash Mountain and got wet. We also did the Country Bear Jamboree and the Hall of the Presidents. We love the Disney characters and love being able to see them as much as the kids do. We snap pictures but don’t usually wait to have a picture taken with us. Just the character is enough.










We didn't get to see Pooh though. We were surprised when we ate at Liberty Tavern to see the characters coming around to all of the tables. That was awesome.







One afternoon in Magic Kingdom was a parade and time to dance with some of the characters.




We asked one of the Disney folk what restaurant they would recommend and they said the buffet at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We went and without having reservations were able to eat the first sitting of the buffet. It was wonderful since the food was very African and there was a wide variety of different items. Also by being there when it opened we were able to see the opening presentation of drums and dancing.

Despite the cool weather we did have a great week. The next time we stay at a Disney resort though we will pick Sarasota or Port Orleans. They would be easier to unload at since the parking is right outside of the unit.
