New Bern, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC

We left ILC on Saturday, September 22 and drove southeast to New Bern, North Carolina.  We checked into a timeshare there and actually spent most of the week relaxing in the unit.  We walked some of the mornings, worked on our farms on Facebook, read books and played lots of Ticket to Ride.

We sat out here to play Ticket to Ride.

We did drive to Morehead City one day to eat lunch at The Sanitary, a special seafood restaurant that we like.  It was a great week.
We then continued on down the coast to the Marriott timeshare in Myrtle Beach.

We stopped at Moore’s Creek National Battlefield on the way.  It was a revolutionary site and it was very interesting.
Coleen’s sister Mavis and her husband DeVon joined us for the week.  We took a day trip north and visited the Oak Island Lighthouse in North Carolina.

We ate a delicious lunch in Southport at Yacht Basin Eatery.  We drove into Wilmington but got interrupted by rain.  It was cloudy and partially rainy all day but we did enjoy what we were able to see.  Another day we went into Charleston.  We toured Fort Moultrie,

 Fort Sumter

 and the Sullivan Island Lighthouse.

We played ticket to ride most evenings, sometimes the US version and sometimes the European version.  It was wonderful to spend the week together.
