Summer and Early Fall 2012

June was spent doing some sewing of my own, helping two 4-H girls with their clothing project and teaching the missions section of VBS at church.  We got to go to a Ft Wayne Tincaps game on the bus from Heritage Pointe.  The strange wind and rain storm came through our area on June 29.  We were out of electricity for a few hours and there were many, many trees that came down.  I made a set of six placemats from the pattern I got at Scrappy Club and a special tea towel for the month of June.

We took a trip to the Dayton area to visit Coleen's sister and family.

Our first week in July was spent cleaning the house and packing.  We spent Saturday, July 7 at Coleen’s brother’s house in Indy to celebrate Chris’s college graduation.  We had a great visit.  Deb had driven up so she and my dad both went with us. 

We left home on July 9 and drove to Rockville, Virginia to spend 12 weeks at ILC as volunteers.  It was a great time but very busy.  We now have added more folks to our prayer list as they travel around the world to spread the good news of Jesus Christ.

Coleen helped with the babies again and we both worked in the quilt quad.  There were over 40 different people who made a total of about 65 projects.  Bob & I made eleven quilt tops to take home to Heritage Pointe. 

  Then we made four quilts to be sold at ILC and I made a Christmas table runner.  I did all of the quilting on the four. 

  I also made a quilt for our bed at ILC, some coasters (which had been cut out for over 10 years) and a bag for Debbie Pillow. 

We were supposed to go to Pennsylvania for Labor Day but Bob was quite sick with a cold and then the flu so we didn’t go.  We did take a day trip to Annapolis to visit with Phil Williams and he took us on a tour of the Naval Academy. 

  We went with the entire group on the bus trip to D.C. where we visited 2 more national parks, Frederick Douglass National Historic Site

 and the Old Post Office Pavilion.

Another day trip took us to Petersburg where we went to Petersburg National Battlefield and also the Old Blanford Church which has one of the largest collections of Tiffany glass windows in existance.
